The pebble tile is a beautiful choice of flooring you can consider installing in your home. Often used as pebble tile bathroom, pebble floors always allow you to embrace the beauty of natural feel and look for the more appealing bathroom space. Today, pebble tile installation can be made easier with sheets of stones to join together on a layer of mesh, thus making the installation phase as easy as laying porcelain or ceramic tile.

It is always recommended for you to practice laying out sheets of pebble tile before you finally apply thinset to the floor. Those sheets of tile are generally designed to interlock together. This way, you can have a clear idea of how the sheets fit together before you finally begin the real process. And don’t forget to sweep the floor first to remove debris and dirt.

Over a small area of the floor, use a notched trowel to spread thinset mortar. Apply enough so you can accommodate two to three pebble tile sheets. Start from the farthest corner of the room from the door for convenient installation. Lay your tiles onto the thinset, press them with your hands. Place the next sheets so that the pebbles can fit closet to the ones on the sheet you have already installed. With sheets of pebble tiles have jagged edges, imagine this like each sheet like pieces of puzzle. Wipe away excess thinset oozing up between the tiles using a damp rag or sponge.

Continue spreading thinset over a small area, applying pebble tile 2 or 3 at a time. Work row by row toward the door. Avoid walking on the freshly-laid tiles. For the edge of installation, use a sharp utility knife to cut sheets of tiles. Measure the remaining area before any thinset applied and you also need to use the result to cut the sheets. Leave a 1/4" gap along the walls to allow for contract and expansion over time. Fill the gaps with individual stones pulled off of the extra sheets of mesh tiles for cohesiveness.

Use a small paintbrush to apply a penetrating stone sealer on the surface of pebble tile. Let it dry completely. Mix grout following the manufacturer’s instruction; put it over a small section of the floor. Force it into the spaces between pebbles using a grout float. Repeat it until the entire floor is grouted. Use a wet sponge or rag to clean excess grout. Make sure the rag or sponge rinsed often to keep the tiles clean.
